Documentary Play to Encore in Helena in June
"Out Under the Big Blue Sky"
receives phenomenal praise during Missoula premiere
Missoula, MT – “Out Under the Big Blue Sky,” a new play by playwright and Montana resident Laramie Dean, will have an encore performance in Montana on the stage of the Myrna Loy Theatre in Helena on Friday, June 18th. The performance begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door the night of the performance or through the Pride Celebration committee at www.qnewsmontana.com. Limited seating is available.
“Out Under the Big Blue Sky” is written in the style of documentary theatre. The play deals with such topical issues as coming out as queer to family and friends, homophobia, gay marriage, and the pursuit of true love. Dean wrote the play after he compiled the interviews of 16 Missoula citizens who identify as “queer” (gay, lesbian, or bisexual). “Out Under the Big Blue Sky” tells the stories of the Montanans in their own words.
Laramie Dean is a native Montanan who grew up in a small town in northeastern Montana. He has lived in Missoula for 10 years, and just earned his Masters in Theatre from The University of Montana-Missoula. His past stage roles have been that of Lumiere in MCT’s “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” and as Riff Raff in The University of Montana’s production of “The Rocky Horror Show.” Dean will be attending Southern Illinois University in the fall to earn his PhD in Playwriting. “Out Under the Big Blue Sky” is Dean’s second full-length play to be produced.
Please call 406-546-8485 if you would like more information or to schedule an interview. Please place this production in your community event calendars.
